Cemeteries and the Visiting Dead
For many in Bolivia, death is considered a journey; a return of the soul. From noon November 1 until noon November 2, in homes and in cemeteries, relatives receive the dead. Graves are decorated with flowers. Bread, food, and drinks are provided as nourishment for afterlife. Friends and visitors who come to pray are given food. Folk music is played in appreciation of the visiting spirits and to wish them a happy return.
